Districts

The SEZ is organised into six functional districts, each designed around its primary material and energy flows. Shared infrastructure connects them into a single, integrated industrial ecosystem.

SEZ Padang Extension

The SEZ Padang Extension is not a random collection of industries. It is a deliberately engineered ecosystem where each operation reinforces others through material flows, shared energy, and integrated logistics. Geothermal energy provides the baseload; desalination produces fresh water and concentrated brine; brine yields pharmaceutical salt, magnesium compounds, and potassium fertilisers. Every tenant must be a registered B Corp and commit 1–5% of profits to the Mentawai Conservation Foundation.

Siberut Conservation Zone

Siberut Island is home to one of the oldest rainforests in Southeast Asia and to the indigenous Mentawai people. The national park currently protects approximately 48% of the island. Through sustained funding from industrial operations at the SEZ Padang Extension, the programme targets expanding protection to 85% of Siberut — a net gain of over 150,000 hectares. This expansion is overseen by the Mentawai Conservation Foundation and integrates indigenous stewardship at every stage.
