The Mainland / Logistics

Logistics Hub

The logistics hub is the circulatory system of the mainland district — the infrastructure that connects industrial outputs to markets, coordinates the movement of goods, passengers, and vehicles across land and sea, and integrates MTA (Mentawai Transport Authority) operations with the freight and customs functions required for an active SEZ. Spanning 50 hectares, it is designed for the full range of flows generated by a mature integrated industrial ecosystem.

Mentawai One Maritime & Logistics

Ferry Terminals: 15 Hectares

The ferry terminal district occupies 15 hectares of deep-water frontage, providing berths for passenger ferries, roll-on/roll-off cargo vessels, and bulk freight carriers. The primary route is the mainland-to-Siberut Island corridor, carrying construction materials, manufactured goods, and consumables to the island and returning passengers, produce, and craft goods to the mainland distribution network.

The terminals are designed to handle HVDC cable reels for the submarine cable manufacturing facility, which require deep-water loading infrastructure that shallow-draft commercial ports cannot accommodate. This specialised capability supports both internal programme logistics and third-party cable installation contracts in the region.

Seaplane Taxi Services & Maintenance: 10 Hectares

MTA operates scheduled seaplane taxi services from the mainland terminal to Siberut Island, the Mentawai surfing archipelago, and regional domestic destinations. The 10-hectare seaplane operations zone includes water taxi terminals, aircraft maintenance hangars, refuelling infrastructure, and crew facilities.

Aircraft operated from this terminal are sourced from the Delta Aerospace manufacturing facility located within the same mainland district, creating a short and transparent supply chain from production to service. HVO biofuel from the on-site production facility supplies the entire MTA fleet, ensuring that the transport link between island and mainland operates on renewable fuel from the moment of commercial opening.

Warehousing & Fulfilment: 15 Hectares

The warehousing and fulfilment zone provides temperature-controlled and ambient storage for agricultural produce, pharmaceutical-grade minerals, manufactured components, and import goods. Cold chain facilities maintain agricultural produce from the greenhouse operation at optimal temperature between harvest, processing, and final delivery — a critical capability for producing premium produce that meets the quality standards required by the hospitality and culinary operations on Siberut Island and in mainland markets.

Cargo Management & Customs: 10 Hectares

As a functioning SEZ under Indonesia's Law 39/2009, the mainland district operates its own customs zone for import and export processing. The 10-hectare cargo management facility handles customs declarations, duty deferral, bonded warehousing, and documentary compliance for all goods entering and leaving the SEZ. Integration with the ACTA (Asian Corporate Trust Authority) digital regulatory platform provides real-time customs documentation and reduces clearance times compared to conventional Indonesian port procedures, improving competitiveness for manufacturers and traders operating within the district.
