Conservation commitment: Siberut protection expansion

Mentawai One has formalised its commitment to expand protected areas on Siberut Island from the current 48% to a target of 85% — a net gain of over 150,000 hectares of primary rainforest. This expansion will be funded through sustained contributions from industrial operations at the SEZ Padang Extension, where all tenants and partners commit 1–5% of annual profits to the Mentawai Conservation Foundation. The foundation oversees conservation science, indigenous engagement, and habitat restoration across the Mentawai Archipelago.
