Assets
Each asset is a distinct operation within the integrated ecosystem — from geothermal power generation to pharmaceutical salt production. Together, they form the interconnected value chains that drive both industrial returns and conservation funding.
Geothermal Power Plant
The geothermal power plant is the energy anchor for the SEZ Padang Extension. West Sumatra sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, providing access to high-enthalpy geothermal resources. The facility is designed to deliver baseload renewable power at US$0.04–0.06/kWh — approximately 50% below prevailing grid costs. Waste heat from the plant feeds directly into the brine crystallisation facility, creating an energy–mineral nexus that reduces costs and emissions across the ecosystem.
Hyperscale Data Centre
The data centre leverages the SEZ's geothermal baseload power and tropical coastal location. Its cooling water demand — approximately 12,500 cubic metres per day — provides the economic rationale for the co-located desalination plant, creating a symbiotic relationship between digital infrastructure and water–mineral processing.
Desalination & Water Treatment
The desalination plant is the nexus between digital infrastructure and mineral processing. Fresh water serves the data centre's cooling systems and industrial tenants; concentrated brine — rather than being discharged — becomes feedstock for the zero-liquid-discharge mineral extraction facility. This transforms a waste product into a revenue stream.
Brine Valorisation Facility
The brine valorisation facility converts concentrated desalination brine into saleable mineral products using geothermal waste heat for crystallisation. Target outputs include pharmaceutical-grade salt, magnesium compounds for construction materials, potassium sulphate for agriculture, and lithium carbonate. This zero-liquid-discharge approach eliminates brine discharge to the ocean and closes the water–mineral loop.
